Yesterday I put a cage of Kapok up in the tree hoping it would help the blue tits in their nest building. I haven’t seen the blue tits using it but lots of sparrows are taking advantage of the free materials. Kapok is the fibre from the seed husks of the Kapok tree. We buy it from pet shops where it sold as bedding for small mammals.
Our nest is almost complete- a lot more fine, soft materials arriving today.
